How to Run the 409A Process on altshare
The 409A request flow in altshare is structured, secure, and collaborative - designed to replace fragmented email workflows with a centralized, in-platform experience.
Instead of managing valuation over email, everything—from data collection to final report—is handled in one place.
Submitting
Step 1: General Information
Start by answering a short set of questions about your company:
– Valuation date
– Recent fundraising activity
– SAFEs or convertible notes
– Exit expectations, warrants, secondary transactions
– Industry and company description
Your answers help our valuation team:
- Select the appropriate valuation methodology
- Determine which documents are required for your specific.

Step 2: Import Your Cap Table
At this stage, you’ll pull your cap table from altshare’s dedicated Cap Table module - no manual uploads required.
Note:
- Your cap table must be up-to-date and published before starting the 409A process
- The valuation will be based on the selected cap table version
Step 3: Upload Supporting Documents
Upload the documents required based on your answers in Step 1..
Typical documents include:
- Articles of Association (AoA)
- Latest financial statements
- Option ledger (ESOP)
- Forecast (template available for download)
Need Documents from Others?
You can request documents directly from relevant stakeholders (e.g., CFO, lawyer, accountant):Send a request via email directly from the platform
- The recipient can upload the documents through a secure link provided
- Documents are automatically attached to your request
All files are uploaded securely within the platform - no email attachments.
Documents are encrypted and accessible only to the valuation teamYou can also leave comments on each document if clarification is needed.
Step 4: Submit for Review
Once you've completed the flow, click Submit for Review.
Your request will be sent directly to our valuation team.
From this point and on:
- Communication happens inside the platform
- You can chat directly with the assigned analyst

Any missing data or clarifications will be handled here
Note: This stage may include some back-and-forth to ensure all required data is complete and accurate.
Step 5: Draft Report Review
Once your valuation is complete, a draft report will be uploaded to the system.
The draft includes:
- Valuation methodology
- Key assumptions
- Supporting analysis
You can:
- Review internally
- Share with board members or legal advisors
- Provide feedback before finalization
Step 6: Payment & Final Report
Once the draft is approved and payment is settled, the final signed 409A report will be uploaded to your account - audit-ready and compliant.
